Kipsu Celebrates International Women's Day!

March 8th marks International Women's Day and Kipsu wanted to highlight the capable, strong women who find themselves at this Minneapolis tech startup.

Happy International Women's Day! Here at Kipsu, we celebrated International Women's Day by highlighting the talented, strong women who work here! It is no secret, women tend to be an anomaly in the tech startup world, however, Kipsu has made it a priority to focus on gender diversity. Celebrate with us the incredible group of women that Kipsu is honored to have apart of the team.

We asked every Kipsuvian women to share with us their thoughts on one of these three questions:

1. Who is your female role model and why?
2. What is your favorite female empowering quote?
3. What do you love most about being a woman?

Read their responses here and learn more about what inspires this group of extraordinary women.

Madeline Dunn | Customer Partnership Team

My favorite part about being a woman is there's a power that comes with striving to be a successful, accomplished and independent woman. Knowing that when I wake up, I'm supported by a community of women that do the same is invigorating and liberating.

Victoria Schanen | Executive Team

My female role model is my mom. She gracefully balanced the stress and daily demands of work and home life when I was growing up. While I've found great takeaways from prominent women in history and popular culture, I've been most easily able to apply the skills learned by watching my mom kick ass at life.

Ashley Boegel | Customer Success Team

Ellen Degeneres said, "Follow your passion. Stay true to yourself. Never follow someone else's path unless you're in the woods and you're lost and you see a path. By all means, you should follow that.” I admire Ellen's kindness, her wisdom and her sense of humor. I think everyone could use a little more humor in their lives. Its inspiring to look up to a woman like Ellen who is changing lives for the better while making us laugh when we need it.

Christine Gale | Customer Partnership Team

My female role model is Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. She embodies everything I wish to be as a woman: resilient, understanding, thoughtful, strong, and not afraid to step head first into the tough conversations.

Cara Christiansen | Rotation Program

"You did not wake up this morning to be mediocre."

-Unknown

Carolyn Cooper | Customer Partnership Team

“The best way for us to cultivate fearlessness in our daughters and other young women is by example. If they see their mothers and other women in their lives going forward despite fear, they'll know it's possible."

-Gloria Steinem

Sofie Hisakuni | Customer Partnership Team

The thing I love most about being a woman is getting to bond with other awesome women. When a group of females unite and support each other through the thick and thin, you better watch out because nothing will stop us.

Becca Heupel | Customer Success Team

"In the future, there will be no female leaders. There will just be leaders."

—Sheryl Sandberg

Dongmin Park | Rotational Program

"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength."

—G.D. Anderson

Eva Dixon | Customer Partnership Team

The thing I love most about being a woman is the wonderful and very deep connection that two women who are best friends share. The sisterhood formed between me and my best female friends has been incredibly formative throughout my life and encourages me every day to take on the world.

Kaitlin Rahon | Customer Partnership Team

My female role model is my mom, Aimee Rahon. She is always fearlessly and authentically herself and encourages others to be the best version of themselves every day. She is one of the most hardworking, selfless, and courageous women I know--all while running her own company and raising three kids!

Rachel Hain | Rotation Program

"Don't wait for an invitation or for permission to do what you want to do. Go out there and make it happen. If you don't see a seat at the table, bring a folding chair."

- Ilhan Omar (MN State Representative)

Anna Schaefer | Executive Team

Anna Schaefer was the first woman to start working at Kipsu and is an inspiration to us all. She works with great poise and confidence and embodies the true essence of a strong female leader. Anna's female inspiration is the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.

“The question is, are you going to grow or are you going to just stay as you are out of fear and waste your precious human life by status quo-ing instead of being willing to break the sound barrier? Break the glass ceiling, or whatever it is in your own life? Are you willing to go forward?”
