Join us in welcoming TJ Lind as Kipsu's first Marketing Coordinator! Prior to Kipsu, TJ worked with Lyft to help grow their brand in the Twin Cities. TJ grew up in Duluth, attended school at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, and has been in Minneapolis for the last 3 years, where he also runs a small consulting business. Outside of work, you'll find TJ brunching at The Lynhall or Red Rabbit in Minneapolis, at shows at First Ave and the Fine Line, and getting lost in the Walker and MIA. We're thrilled to have him join the Kipsu team and asked TJ to share his experience with Kipsu so far.
What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?
Kipsu's commitment to their mission and core values is what really drew me in. Personally, I put enormous weight on working with organizations that align with my own values, and Kipsu's team made it clear during the interview and onboarding process just how value and mission—oriented the company is. The leadership's thoughtful approach to growth and development assured me that I'd have a place to learn and grow here.
What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?
The closeness of the team is the first thing I noticed. With less than 100 employees, the entire team knows each other—even the CEO knows everyone on a first-name basis. Beyond the tight-knit community of the team, I noticed that everyone is here to go above and beyond for customers. Kipsu is an incredibly mission and values-driven organization.
What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?
As a startup, everyone is expected to wear many "hats" throughout the workweek. I'm excited to draw on my marketing background to grow Kipsu's brand while developing skills in new areas. There's totally an "all hands on deck" attitude towards work here, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
What is your favorite Kipsu core value?
My favorite Kipsu core value is "pursue relentlessly." I've always had a "good isn't good enough" mindset—where I'm always asking myself how we can improve for the next campaign and what features would let our customers serve guests at an even higher level.
If you could meet any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?
I'd love to have dinner with Sir Richard Branson. He's possibly the craziest entrepreneur the world has seen. He's also incredibly decisive with his business ventures—he seeks to make a profit by being the best, not the biggest in any of the industries he enters. I'd love an opportunity to pick his flamboyant, genius, mind!
We're looking for motivated people to join our growing team in Minneapolis. See our careers page to view all open positions and submit an application.
