What were you up to before joining Kipsu?

My background is in music including a Doctorate of Musical Arts that I used in a couple of different jobs.  Most recently I was a Creative Arts Associate at a large church handling all of the music as well as tech for our services.  I also have and currently teach part time in higher education.

What are some things you enjoy doing outside of work?

I really enjoy spending time with my wife, one year old son and our husky.  I'm always commiserating with Minnesota sports, particularly the Twins and Vikings.  If there is an opportunity to play disc golf, I will happily do it any time or day.

What drew you to Kipsu in contrast to other companies?

This answer is pretty simple, it's the people.  From the very first contact from the recruiter, through the interview process, to meeting people on my first day, everyone has been fantastic.  I think a lot of companies say that they hire for culture, Kipsu being one of them, but it's pretty easy to see that they have succeeded in bringing in some amazing people.

What were some things you noticed about the Kipsu team during your first week?

How friendly and helpful everyone is.  From the first day walking in, I could tell people were eager to help me out learning the ropes.  It was clear right away that everyone wants to help the team succeed.

What challenges are you looking forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu?

I am very much looking forward to continuing to build my coding skills to be able to build and problem solve.  In my current role, I'm looking forward to helping people solve their problems and helping each customer to have a positive support experience.

What is your favorite Kipsu core value and why?

Go Beyond Together.  It is so very important to understand the power of team, with everyone contributing for the betterment of the whole.  A good team is comprised of people with different strengths creating something that is better than any one person could achieve.  Looking forward to contributing to that success.

If you could pick any person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick and why?

Scott Lafaro was a bass player that was very influential to my musical life, but also my personal one.  He was a musician who started playing jazz upright bass at the age of 18.  He died tragically in a car accident at the age of 25, but in those 7 short years he managed to change the course of bass playing forever.
