Before starting at Kipsu I completed a software development bootcamp and interned at a few start ups as a front end engineer. I also worked at a record store and was a public radio DJ.
I love the outdoors! I enjoy hiking, kayaking, nordic skiing, hunting for agates, and camping. I also collect vinyl records, make electronic music, DJ around town, and build furniture.
I was first drawn to Kipsu because of the strong set of values I saw in the job posting. I felt that Kipsu's values were the most inline with my personal values compared to the other companies I was interviewing with. Throughout the interview process, I saw that these values were not just corporate speak. They are truly important and guide decision making at all levels of the company.
The first thing I noticed that everyone in the office was genuinely interested in getting to know me and the other new engineers. The team made me feel right at home and I feel comfortable pulling anyone aside to have a conversation. I was also happy to see how transparently the company operates. There is no internal competition between departments or teams; everyone is working collaboratively to improve together.
I am looking forward to learning new technologies to power existing and future products from Kipsu. I am very excited to see the results that my squad and I can produce. I am also looking forward to learning more about business development in addition to software.
My favorite Kipsu core value is Go Beyond Together. This resonates with me because I believe that a strong and engaged team comprised of diverse viewpoints is one of the strongest assets you can have.
If I could have dinner with anyone, I would have to choose Townes Van Zandt. He is my favorite musician, and his works have resonated with me more than anyone else.
