Josh Hoffman is one of our newest Sales Development Representatives here at Kipsu, and is already making some great waves! A recent graduate of Bethel College, Josh has transferred his skills from the basketball court and hospitality industry into his role. Let’s take a look at what Josh has learned from working here (and crushing it) so far.
How long have you been working at Kipsu?
I have been at Kipsu for a month and a half so far.
What’s one thing that’s surprised you about working here?
One thing that has surprised me is how team-centered the sales and marketing teams are. Everyone is looking for ways to help each other hit their personal goals and team goals. This isn’t found in typical sales teams, especially because they are usually more cut-throat and worried about their own commissions.
How did you decide that Sales Development was the path you wanted to pursue?
I had good connections with people in the company and wanted to find a way to get my foot into the corporate world.

What do you find rewarding about being in Sales Development?
However much effort you put in is what you will get out of the role. Both financially and also career-wise, because everyone truly is looking for ways to lend a helping hand.
What are some of the skills you have that you think make you great at sales and sales development?
I am very conversational and also not too worried about being told no, because most of the time when you’re told no, it’s just not the right time. I also think being charismatic and fun pays great dividends when it comes to sales and SD in general.
Do you have any defining or “aha” moments you’d like to share?
If you show up every day and put in the work and make sure to communicate with those around you about your own ways to success or their ways to success, you will be surprised at how easy and fun the job can actually be.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Kipsu?
Just the atmosphere. Everyone wants to win, and when you’re around people who want to win and want to see the company win, it’s pretty easy to want to win yourself. Plus, it helps when everyone is trying to help each other win and not just cut-throat like some sales positions can be.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start a sales career?
Stay even keeled; there will be ups, and there will be downs, but staying steady and consistent will get you the results at the end of the day. Lastly, just do the work; it won’t always be easy or glamorous, but it will for sure pay off in the long run.
